The 2014 MTVu Woodie Awards will take place Thursday, March 13 in Austin, Texas during the SXSW Music Festival, and Childish Gambino is the first performer to be announced on the event’s lineup. The 30-year-old rapper is fresh off the success of his sophomore album Because the Internet, which garnered critical and commercial acclaim in 2013. Gambino is also nominated in the “Did It My Way Woodie” category. His competition in the category includes Kanye West, Beyoncé, Arcade Fire, and Bob Dylan.
The MTVu Woodie Awards is always free, but wristbands and badges do get priority entrance. MTVu have not announced the ticket pick-up location yet, but it has always been somewhere inside the convention center. Either day of the event or a day before.
Vic Mensa And Bleachers also performing At 2014 mtvU Woodie Awards
Vic Mensa is about to make his own mark. Mensa released his break-out solo mixtape, Innanetape, in September of last year, only months after the demise of his band Kids These Days.
Bleachers with Jack Antonoff, is new Band fronted by F.U.N. and they’ll be making their debut at the mtvU Woodie awards.
A televised version of the MTVu Woodie Awards will premiere on MTV on Sunday, March 16 at 8 p.m. (EST). Past performers include N.E.R.D., Lupe Fiasco, Vampire Weekend, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, and Mac Miller.
More acts will be announced later on through out the week.
